Evergreen Oak "Holm Oak".
A large tree with attractive corrugated back and rounded head of branches, the ends of which become pendulous with age. Leaves leathery, dark glossy green above, greyish downy beneath or glabnous. Tolerates shade.
Excepting certain conifers, this is probably the most majestic evergreen cultivated in the British Isles. Cultivated in England since the16th Century.
